Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern your use of the gramdown website (gramdown.tobythe.dev, the “Site”) and its in-browser document converter.

The Site is operated by Toby Smith (“we”, “us”, “our”) from the United Kingdom. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

The service

The Site describes gramdown and lets you convert Grammarly .docx exports to Markdown. The conversion runs entirely in your browser; no file is uploaded. The Site is free to use.

Open source and licensing

gramdown is developed in public: the command-line tool, the @gramdown/core library and this website all live in the tobysmith568/gramdown repository. The published gramdown and @gramdown/core packages are released under the ISC License; your use of those packages is governed by that license, not by these Terms.

These Terms cover only your use of the hosted Site.

No warranty

The Site and the converter are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In particular:

  • We do not warrant that a conversion is accurate, complete, or a faithful representation of the source document. Markdown output, and especially any code-block language the converter has guessed, should be reviewed before you rely on it.
  • We do not warrant that the Site will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any documents you convert and for checking the output.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or the converter, including any loss of or damage to documents or data. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Acceptable use

Don’t use the Site to break the law, to disrupt or attack the Site or its host, or to misrepresent the Site as your own. The Site is hosted on GitHub Pages and your use is also subject to GitHub’s Terms of Service.

The Site links to third-party sites such as GitHub and npm. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for their content or practices.

Changes

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date shown with this page reflects the most recent change, and the full history is visible in the public Git repository. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

Questions about these Terms can be raised as an issue on the gramdown repository.
